Rovigo, Padova, Rome, Geneva, Eindhoven and Zurich clubs featured on an Italian TV sports channel recently. The “FUNalysis” programme, broadcast on Sportitalia on November 7th was entirely dedicated to Gaelic Games.
Apart from the video clips featuring our clubs in action, the show covered the history and basic rules of the various Gaelic Games codes and included a short promotional video produced by GAA headquarters. The presenters, Italian sports journalists Daniella Scalia and Luca Tramontin, have both played Gaelic Football with Rovigo. Daniela represented in Italy in their first international match against France while Luca has played a variety of sports and won international caps in rugby league and Australian Rules with Italy, Switzerland and Hungary.
GAA is booming in Italy, with both Handball & Rounders being played regularly there and exposure like this can only be a good thing for the future of all of our codes in the country.
