St. Patrick’s Gasteiz GFC was conceived in autumn 2021 when a few Irish residents from the small Basque city of Vitoria-Gasteiz came together with a group of friends to train. There were a number of challenges to overcome on the way to registering as a club and members have come and gone, however there is a core group of plucky players, pushing to improve and make the club grow. The club focuses on Gaelic Football, for both Men and Ladies, and had their first cup victory in the inaugural Euskal Kopa against neighbours Bilbao Gaels in 2022.
We train every week on the Rugby pitch at Lakua 03 and are always looking for new players to join, including beginners. Aside from playing Gaelic football, we believe our club provides an important meeting point for people of various cultural backgrounds, who would not ordinarily have the chance to come together and get to know each other.
