Budapest Gaels GAA was originally founded as St. Stephen’s Budapest GAA in 2011. In 2020, the club was reformed by students of the local veterinary university. Since then, Budapest Gaels have been active in the central east european circuit, with both men’s and women’s teams claiming silverware in various senior and student football tournaments over the years.
Most recently, our Ladies A team were victorious in the final stage of the 2023 Central East European Championship which was held in Budapest.
Our team is predominantly composed of students, both long-term and erasmus we also have expats who live in the city. We are an international club, with local Hungarians and other members hailing from the UK, France & South Africa. We are always looking to recruit new members, even if you are brand new to the sport!
We consider ourselves a welcoming and fun club. We often organise socials in the local Irish pubs in the city, and nights out elsewhere. Our 12 pubs pub crawl is always a good way to share festive spirit.
