This year, the Champions Cups, which are open to the top teams from the Iberian, North-West, Benelux, Nordic and Central-East regions, will also serve as the European Senior Football Championships. The remaining men’s teams are graded into “intermediate” and “junior” levels and battle for championships at each level. Female teams not participating in the Champions Cup play for the European Championship Shield and Plate prizes.

Using six pitches from early morning until evening, games are played in a 11-a-side format (male) or  7/9-a-side format (female) with group games in the morning and knock-out stages after lunch. Each team will normally play between four and six games. Games last 15-25 minutes at the group stage and 30 minutes for semi-finals and finals. The main competition finals are played on Europe’s only dedicated gaelic games astroturf pitch. The pitches and the modern clubhouse with multiple bars, changing rooms, medical and other services are provided the Maastricht city council’s sports service, who have developed a high quality multi-purpose facility which is regarded as one of the best in Europe.
